================================================================ Title : Predator & Prey (v1.1) Change from v1.0: the "block monsters" flag was removed from the non-key doors. Filename : THPREY.WAD Required to run : THEME16.ZIP: Doom Theme Patch v1.6, for DOOM I and DOOM ][ Author : Ian Merrithew Email Address : c4rn@unb.ca Misc. Author Info : First DOOM level I've actually finished (well, that's worth releasing anyway :-) Description : I love the two "Predator" movies. And when I got a hold of the THEME16 patch that includes Predators in it, I got an idea for a dandy theme level. Just like Schwarzenegger (sp), you're alone in the dark forest, with a Predator (actually, Predators) out for your blood. You can't see him, but he can see you. You can get a sense of vague movement from time to time, but is it enough to target him and kill him before he kills you? Well, turns out that would be a bit boring on its own. But when I was playing E1M3 on ILLUSORY.WAD, the forest outside the buildings just seemed too perfect for that kind of fight. So I had to do it. Here it is: there are several Predators hunting you down outside (once you beam into the forest), and some more nasty stuff inside the buildings (notably Terminators & Aliens). There are a few fellow Marines kicking around outside (8 in total, if I remember correctly) who may be able to help you out. (They tend to act more like cannon fodder though :-). The light level outside is such that, from a distance, you won't have a clue where the hell those Predators are that are shooting at you. Once you knock out their cloaking, though, they play dirty: they start using their frisbee devices, which will seek you out and be a real pain-in-the-a**. Best bet is to kill them before they have a chance to shoot those. If you don't... well, good luck, you're gonna need it!-) There are ways to evade them, see if you can figure it out. Inside, it's standard stuff. Kill everyone, get keys, throw necessary switches, bla bla bla. (Just don't get the hostage killed or you won't be able to finish the level!) Additional Credits to : Werner Spahl, creator of the THEME16 patch Brett Librandi, creator of the ILLUSORY.WAD file Ben Morris & Zerius Development, creators of DCK If you're still using DEU, I strongly recommend that you at least _try_ DCK. I did, and there's no way I'm going back :-). ================================================================ * Play Information * Episode and Level # : E1M1 (should be no prob converting to DOOM ][) Single Player : Yes Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes (Untested) << There are 3 more Predators Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Yes (Ditto) << in netgames plus 2 T-800's Difficulty Settings : Yes (U-V untested, so I may have over- or under-done it) Weapons Available : Shotgun, Chaingun, Plasma rifle (secret) Toughest Enemy : Predators (5 in HMP, 7 in UV, add 3 for netgames) New Sounds : Yes (In the THEME16 patch) New Graphics : Yes (Ditto) New Music : No Demos Replaced : None * Construction * Base : Modified E1M3/ILLUSORY.WAD Not too heavily modified, actually... mostly just changing the things around.
